Community Park Project in NorthWest Crossing

Compass Park, serving the community of NorthWest Crossing, offered several opportunities to create and preserve outdoor recreation spaces. The circular site is located in the core of NorthWest Crossing, and preservation of half of the site's native vegetation was imperative. This preservation helps buffer and creates a stronger connection to the regions native landscape within a densely populated area. The park is accessed and utilized by several different user groups and the design accommodates each of them. The centrally located pavilion serves as the park hub from which all other spaces have been developed. These spaces allow users to have opportunities for large gatherings, intimate conversations, interactive play, and exploration.

The planning of Compass Park required a balance between the natural environment and the variety of ways in which people would use the park.
